A young photographer proposed to his girlfriend of eight years amid a breathtaking scenery in Iceland.
Sofie Van Hooydonk, 24, said ‘yes’ as boyfriend Vincent De Poorter, 25, kneeled before her on top of Mt. Stapafell.
The young couple from Kapellen, Belgium, had just completed a once-in-a-lifetime trip, on April 7, across the spectacular Northern country.
Vincent, a talented photographer, used his drone to film geysers, black-sand beaches, barren tundra, waterfalls and glaciers.
He said: “It was our first time in Iceland, we absolutely loved the beautiful nature and wide landscapes.
“I was planning to propose to Sofie this summer on our trip to Croatia, but then I decided that I should ask her in Iceland, no place would be more magical than over there.
“I was very nervous before the proposal.
“To make it in time for the sunrise, we started climbing the mountain at 3AM and made it to the top at 5AM.
“To be honest, it was a dangerous climb and there were several moments when I was doubting that I had picked the right location.
“Afterwards I was glad we made the trip up that mountain and was proud of her for keeping going to the top.
“She’s definitely the romantic soul in the relationship and I could see that I had made the right decision about asking her there at that time.”
