This is the adorable moment a baby elephant is saved from drowning by its doting mother.
The herd of elephants were watching over their calves whilst they played in the water but as the group left, one youngster was left behind.
Thankfully its mother quickly realised and attempted to haul its off spring out of the water where he appeared to be drowning.
The footage was taken in the Kruger National Park in South Africa by Ingrid Steynberg, 70, who said: “As I stood watching the scene my heart cried out for help, but knowing the wild and especially elephants, I knew the mother would come to its rescue.
“For me it felt like the baby was stuck for ages, the mother didn’t notice her baby was in trouble at first and I kept watching its little trunk sticking out of the water.
“But thankfully she got to her just in time and it really did bring a tear to my eye.
“Elephants are simply amazing, I could talk for hours and hours about the gentle giants of the bush, their behaviour and love for their family is a good example to everyone.”
