A doting teacher has spent hours drawing portraits of her students – to give them as gifts.
Roselyn Barcoma, 35, decided to draw the pupils in her class in a bid to keep them motivated to study.
The drawings, which are all sketched in granite pencil, show a variety of boys and girls who she teaches.
Roselyn teaches at Holy Redeemer School of Cabuyao, in Banlic, Cabuyo City.
She said: “I just wanted to give something special to my students as a Christmas gift so they will be motivated to study.
“I thought it should be something that they will keep and treasure, and something that I made.
“I thought portraits will last longer, and whenever they look at it, they would remember Teacher Rose.”
The teacher decided to give the students her awe-striking drawings as a Christmas present last year.
She said: “They were very surprised, speechless at first, then were very happy to receive their gifts.
“A lot of parents have expressed gratitude – they, too, liked the gifts.
“I also received kind messages and appreciation from strangers, they would email me and say they were touched by what I gave to the students.
“Others said they were inspired.”
But despite the beauty of the drawings, Roselyn explains that she has never received proper training in drawing.
She added: “I do not have formal training in arts.
“Drawing is my hobby since I was a kid.
“I learned through practice, by looking at the works of other professionals in the internet, by reading tips and ideas, and by watching tutorial videos.”
