This stunning big cat silhouette proves Disney classics The Jungle Book and The Lion King weren’t entirely works of fiction.
Some have argued the incredible image of a female leopard stepping out onto a rock ledge in Central Serengeti, Tanzania, against the setting sun almost entirely mimic The Lion King’s opening scene, while others believed it more closely resembled The Jungle Book’s Bagheera.
Wildlife snapper Marc Mol, 60, from Tanzania, said he found the ‘majestic’ four and a half-year-old female leopard majestic.
He added: “High atop Vultures Rock in Tanzania’s Serengeti reserve, a female leopard stepped out of her lair.
“Having just nursed and fed her two 8-week old cubs, she paused on her elevated platform as if to ponder another beautiful sunset in the Central Serengeti.
“She was born here and she is now four and a half years old and after having lost the previous season, her first set of cubs, I fervently hoped that she would raise at least one of the present litter to maturity.
“Having seen her more than once at this very spot while documenting her and her two cubs’ lives over a 14 day period, I waited for a night with partial cloud so that the sunset would cast its heavenly rays to enhance her descending silhouette.
“Opportunities like this rarely present themselves, so I was extremely grateful for the confluence of terrestrial and heavenly events that allowed me to record this majestic moment in time.”
