These flexible giraffes looked to prove that three heads are better than one, as they contorted themselves into a series of hilarious poses.

In the amusing shots, the three creatures appear to almost have one body, as they twist and turn their necks into interesting shapes.

The moment was captured by photographer Doyel Roy, in Masai Mara, Kenya.

Doyel, 33, from India, said she had never seen anything like this before – “not even on television” – as the three giraffes played so elegantly while twisting and during.

In her shots, taken earlier this year, Doyel managed to capture a variety of poses.

Initially, she said, there were four giraffes present – but when the group went down to three, those remaining started banging their necks together and playing joyfully, giving her a chance to capture the moment.

The photographer considered herself fortunate, too: the shots were taken on her last day of safari, right when she had almost packed up for the day.

Doyel said: “I had never seen what I saw before, not even on television – three giraffes engaging playfully.

“I was really pleased with what I got – the images exceeded my expectations.

“I kept watching them before even beginning to photograph.

“They made me so happy and curious and I waited till they stopped.

“By the end of their play, I was totally mesmerised as what I witnessed was a heart-warming, life-changing show of the wild that I consider a gift.”
