Brits may be moaning about Storm Diana, but as these photos show, we could have it much worse.
These snaps, taken this week, show a Russian village completely engulfed in deep snow which caused dangerous road conditions – leading to a classic car flipping.
And while Diana has caused issues for the West, this is the wintery everyday for the East, with farmers even having to wrap their tractor engines up in rugs to keep them running as natives experience this level of snowfall continuously.
Photographer Ilnar Salakhiev snapped the heavy snowfall during a visit to Chingis, Novosibirsk.
He said: “Driving becomes extremely difficult especially if you drive a car designed in sixties.
“It’s easy to leave the road – especially considering that you can’t see if it is a road and or if it’s a field.
“However, one villager was shocked when their car flipped upside down with the tyres in the air.
“Fortunately, the villagers only received a couple of bruises and the classic car looked virtually untouched – despite the engine not responding.
“They had to call their friend who owned a tractor, but it looks as though they have to walk more now.”
