In a moment of peace that tired mums find themselves praying for, mum-of-three Paula Byrnes, 26, quickly discovered there was a high price to pay.
Hearing her two youngest sons, Jenson, three, and Hunter two, fall silent, Paula was horrified to see the cheeky lads had decided to get their hands on tubs of paint.
With mischievous grins, Jenson and Hunter had blathered themselves in a mix of colours, painting themselves to look like modern-day Picassos.
Part time cleaner Paula, from Chelmsford, Essex, said: “Silence is bliss until you have toddlers.
“They had got hold of the crafts bag I had left out and poured it all over each other, covered head to toe in paint.
“I was shocked, angry but guilty for leaving them out in the first place.
” I didn’t know where to start – I had to throw everything away, but I couldn’t contain my laughter.
“It took ages to get all the paint off them.”
