An angler who created a bizarre annual calendar to pair his two passions ‘beautiful women’ and ‘beautiful carp’ is in the TOP TEN RANKINGS.
Hendrik Pöhler, 30, from Germany, has been REELING in customers and is now onto his sixth edition of ‘Carponizer Carp Calendar’.
It takes six weeks to photograph the calendar due to the creator being adamant about catching the perfect fish in good weather, while shooting in Bretagne, France.
Showcasing models who are posed topless or covering the chests with large carp, the models lie down, carry and caress the confused looking fish in the unusual shots.
But the calendar – that is available in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish – is not ‘cheap as chips’ as it costs £17.95 to buy on Amazon.
Last year it was a bestseller for the online retailer, featuring as the most popular sports calendar and in the top ten books in Germany.
As well as featuring in the top ten sports calendars for both the USA and UK.
Hendrik, the organiser, said: “It’s very hard to shoot because everything must be perfect. You need a nice girl, a beautiful carp and also good weather – it takes a very long time.
“If we have a bad weather day, we have to stop shooting and continue the next day.
“The photoshoot is very hard. It’s not easy to make it all perfect.
“The people like the calendar because it’s unique. In Germany, the calendar is cult. But we have fans all over the world.
“June is my favourite month because I put my favourite picture on my birth month.
“We have to keep the calendar very high quality, so it’s very hard, we don’t want to disappoint our fans.
“It was fun to shoot, with good weather, beautiful carps and the best hobby in the world – fishing.
“No picture is photoshopped. They are real. Everything must be perfect. The carp, the girl, the colours, weather and so on.
“In Germany it’s always top one sports calendar but It was also in the top ten in the books category. In UK and USA it’s in the top ten list for sport calendars, but is only a few days or weeks”
