This heart-breaking footage shows a brave elephant walking along with a stump.
Patrick Ellis, 60, from South Africa captured the gut-wrenching video whilst on safari with his wife, Topaz, and son, Daniel, in Kruger National Park, South Africa.
Filmed on June 27 the calf can be seen limping across the road with its herd following in its path.
It is believed that the elephant was caught in a snare trap, resulting in its right hind foot being lost.
Patrick said: “For us as a family, we had never personally witnessed such brutal and traumatic evidence of poachers’ snares in the Kruger Park.
“The camps inside the Kruger Park show photo displays of animals snared but only when you witness it first-hand that the full impact hits you.
“The wound appeared to have fully healed which leads to the assumption that this little guy had lived with the severed leg for several months.”
