This turtle was no slow coach after being spotted hurtling along on a subway train by shellshocked commuters.
Yuki Nakajima spotted the animal as he travelled on the Toei Shinjuku line, in Tokyo, on October 1 but was completely baffled as to how it had ended up there.
The animal can be seen walking around the floor of the carriage as Yuki films.
He said: “When I got on the train from Shinjuku station, one of the passengers said there was a turtle on board.
“He was so relaxed and freely walking until gradually everyone began to notice him and he became a star.
“We all laughed along with each other and watched the turtle walk around, taking pictures of him.
“The turtle was okay and he wanted to roam free, cheerfully, along the aisle and under the bench.”
The turtle was taken off the train two stations later by two members of staff and police are now looking for his owner.
