In a heartwarming show of affection, a young military solider granted his mother the only birthday wish she had, appearing before her very eyes in what was a complete surprise.

Spencer Perkins finished training with the Vermont National Guard a month early to come home and surprise his parents – a moment that was captured on video, and showcased the family’s loving bond.

Filmed on April 21, in Burlington, Vermont, USA, 20-year-old Spencer and his sister, Saedee, walk into the restaurant where their mum, Camilla, was having her birthday lunch.

Saedee asked both her parents to close their eyes and await their surprise – an idea three months in the making – and when the birthday girl started what her only birthday wish was, she opened her eyes to that being granted.

Both teary-eyed parents were left speechless and gasping after laughing off the idea that the birthday surprise was their military son.

Spencer’s long-time best friend, Cameron Bushey, recorded the moment, stating that it was “a blessing to be able to witness such a special moment.”

Cameron said: “I love Spencer and his family and I have been close with all of them for a very long time now. To be there to witness such a special moment was fantastic.”

“Spencer’s sister organised the entire surprise and had approached me with it, since I’m one of his closest friends.

“We worked together to make it happen for his mum, and Sadee then surprised Spencer by arranging a meet-up with all of his close friends.

“We have a core group of friends who all love Spencer and were extremely excited to see him again – he was excited and slightly confused because he had no idea that he was going to be surprised himself.”

Spencer was then treated to his favorite dish cooked by Cameron’s mom – an apple pie – whilst catching up with his nearest and dearest.

The video has gained quite the attraction online, acting as a great preview of the day for his family and friends who were unable to witness it themselves.
