Two swans were caught in a passionate dance during mating season as they appear to recreate their own version of the famous ballet.
Wildlife photographer, Bob Riach, From Scunthorpe, captured the two lovebirds on the waters of the Potteric Carr Nature Reserve In Doncaster Yorkshire, on April 12.
He said: “This is the first time I have seen anything like this.
“Swans are very graceful and beautiful to see at any time, but when you see a pair of swans during their mating ritual, they are so majestic in the way they move together it’s like a ballet dance.
“Swans mate for life. despite their name, mute swans are not silent.
“Their courtship ‘dance’ is accompanied by lots of hissing and grunting sounds.”
