A body modification artist is proudly showcasing the bizarre alterations he’s subjected his body to over the last 30-years.
Russ Foxx, from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, has had over 100 modifications applied to his body – from electrical key fobs fitted into his hand that unlock his front door, to horns implanted into his head.
After getting his ears pierced at aged five, Russ quickly became ‘fascinated’ by the world of extreme aesthetic manipulation, and by age 18, the modifications parlour owner had over 50 piercings in his face – leading to nickname ’tackle box’.
The 36-year-old full-time modifications artist has performed tens of thousands of procedures, including a forked snake tongue, ultraviolet tattoos and pointed ears.
Other unconventional works include scarifications – a piece of art scratched into skin with the scarring healing into a piece of art, to an implanted 3D silicon scarab.
Russ said: “If there is anything I truly own, it’s my body.
“I view modifications as the art and my body is the canvas.
“I define myself as a trans-humanist – I evolve with technology and time.
“I’m always updating; always upgrading.
“Since becoming an adult, I find myself gravitating towards more functional modifications that enhance my natural abilities – such as unlocking my front door with an device I’ve had surgically implanted in my hand.
“Though occasionally I undergo modifications just for aesthetic reasons.”
Russ is currently in the midst of upgrading the casted silicon horns that he has fitted into his head to ‘lead the shallow and judgmental away’ .
He added: “I started modifying with ear piercings at the age of five soon leading into brightly colored hair.
“I’m not forcing anyone to like the modifications and I encourage people to ask questions if they’re intrigued.
“If you want to ask a modified individual questions, you should always take the same consideration that you would when approaching anybody else in public.”
Russ takes great pride in the quality of his work, using only safe and high quality materials for both himself and his clients.
He said: “Whether its tattoos, piercings or advanced body modifications, do not choose the cheap option.
“You only get one body, and your health is of the upmost importance.”
