This heart-stopping footage of an adrenaline junkie navigating a narrow snow ridge will make your stomach churn.
In the nail-biting video, daredevil Tormod Granheim can be seen climbing up a snowy cliff face, before teetering on the edge of a slippery snow pass – with nothing but hooks and a rope to support him.
Although it’s not for the faint-hearted, the death-defying stunt offers stunning views across the Aiguille du Jardin in Chamonix, France, which Tormod captured on his GoPro.
Full-time adventurer Tormod, 42, said: “This was part of a project where I climbed all 82,400 metre peaks of the Alps.
“It was the sharpest snow ridge I ever climbed, with a fascinating overhanging start.
“The length of the axes, 45cm, gives perspective to the sharpness of the ridge.
“We were forced by an approaching thunderstorm to move quickly – but we needed to avoid falling off the ridge, as we had only a 40 metre run-out to the last and only point of protection.
“Fortunately the snow was still frozen, as it was early in the morning.
“It was a terrifying distance to the glacier below if we fell – but it was such a great feeling to complete this challenge.”
