This is the hair-raising moment a car ploughed into the back of a lorry on a snowy M20 – with the passenger side ending up wedged underneath it.
Recruitment manager Martin Hobbs was driving on the inside lane between junction 9 and 8 on his way to work at 7am yesterday when he caught the shocking moment between the black car and lorry on camera.
The black car, believed to be a Peugeot, loses control in the blizzard conditions and appears to helplessly slide into the back of the truck, while a red car veers to the left.
Martin from Ashford, Kent, said: “I was driving on the M20 between Ashford and Maidstone when it happened.
“The traffic was slowing down on the motorway. We were doing about 30 miles per hour and it wasn’t too bad up until that point, but it seems the weather caught some people out.
“I didn’t see the black car to begin with, I could only see the red one. It’s only when the driver put their brakes lights on and I drove past that I saw what happened.
“The passenger side went under the lorry while the red car in front of me had to drive off at angle to avoid hitting them.”
The 39-year-old dad of five and grandad of one, says it took three times longer to get to work due to the bad weather.
Martin said: “It took me two hours to get to work, it normally takes just 40 minutes, it was bad.
“About five minutes after that video it was down to five miles per hour and just two lanes.”
