This frozen waterfall looks stunning as the sun rises.
Chad Rieder, a web developer and photographer, made his way to Minnesota’s Minnehaha Falls before sunrise to capture the scene.
As the sun slowly rose, the light shone directly onto the frozen waterfall, casting a deep blue light on the rocks behind.
With the water completely still, Chad was able to slip through a small gap in the ice and into the cave behind.
From there, he captured the glow as the sun rose and became ever more intense.
Chad, 41, said: “I trek to the falls several times a year knowing it is always changing. It’s a great experience every time. It has a calming presence.
“On this cold morning the forecast was for clear skies and I knew the bright sun was going to hit the face of the ice directly at sunrise.
“I planned ahead and the results were spectacular.
“They have gotten a great response on social media. People outside of Minnesota are fascinated and stunned by the beauty.
“I’m drawn to symmetry in nature, and I like photos that have a unique perspective.”
