This dad has found a cunning way to make sure drive thru payments aren’t a sticking point – by attaching his bank card to the end of a twig.
Jonathan Sercombe, from London, was going through a McDonald’s drive thru with his wife Stephanie and two children when he decided to have some fun.
Much to the kids’ entertainment, he picked up one of their sticks and attached his bank card to it using chewing gum.
The McDonald’s worker was fully taken aback when, arriving at the payment window, Jonathan waved his card through the booth’s window and touched the card reader by the till to make the payment.
Both the server and Jonathan’s children fell about laughing at his idea.
Jonathan said: “I always love how they hold the card reader into the car on a stick and kept saying to the kids that I should put a card on a stick and play them at their own game.
“We never had a stick in the car but then on that day I found one of the kids’ sticks they had collected from the park.
“The staff loved it. At first they were surprised, but when they realised what we were doing they laughed.
“I’ll definitely do it again. I’d always recommend having fun with staff stuck in a routine job. They love it.”
