This is the hilarious moment a clever koala was caught hitching a sneaky ride on the front of a stunned farmer’s quad bike.
Dairy farmer Leigh Clarke filmed the cuddly critter on his dairy farm in the remote town of Cudgee in regional Victoria, Australia, last week.
The 49-year-old couldn’t believe his eyes when the adorable koala jumped onto his quad bike and clung on to be happily chauffeured to a nearby tree plantation 700 metres away.
Leigh, who runs his farm with wife Maricris Canuda Clarke, 44, said: “My dog actually spotted the koala first when I was coming back from milking the cows.
“The little fella was sitting by a waterhole and I think he got a bit spooked by my dog.
“I tied the dog up and was planning to go home and call the local wildlife rescue.
“Suddenly the koala just jumped up onto my quadbike as I was about to ride back to the house.
“I couldn’t believe it but I just kept going.
I got about 700 metres up the road before he started to get a bit impatient. I stopped the bike for him and he quickly jumped up into the trees.”
The koala seemed none the worse for his ride on the quad bike and after hopping down from his free ride he climbed a nearby cyprus tree for a nap.
Leigh’s footage of the bear racked up hundreds of likes and shares on social media after he shared it to Facebook.
In the video, the perturbed farmer can be heard giving a running commentary as he drives the quad bike with his furry hitchhiker clinging onto the chassis.
And he said it wasn’t the first time cheeky koalas have made an appearance on his farm, which has been in his family for generations.
The remote town of Cudgee, where Leigh and his wife run their farm, has a population of just 238 people.
Leigh added: “We’ve had koalas get up onto our milking machine and fall asleep on it.
“But this is the first time one has ever hitched a ride.”
