This is the adorable moment an Air Force Staff Sergeant proposes to the ‘love of his life’ on the wing of his fighter jet, after taking her for her first ride.
It’s ‘spouse visiting’ day at the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, in North Carolina, USA, and despite not yet being married to her boyfriend, a ride in one of the F-15 fighter jet he oversees, isn’t the only surprise in store for ‘loved-up’ Amber Neeb.
Stepping out of the cockpit of her partner, Sgt. Charles Fairchild’s, menacing plane after
being take for a spin for the very first time, Amber’s already ‘jellied-legs’ are about to have their resolve tested once more, as Charles leads her onto the wing to ask a very special question.
Getting down on one knee on the flank of his fighter jet, Charles, who has been serving in the air force for the last 11 and a half years, asks his beloved Amber the four-word question she has been waiting for the last two years to hear; ‘Will you marry me?’
Though the focus of the camera slips momentarily, it’s remains abundantly clear that Amber is overjoyed by the proposition as she puts two hands up to her face, nodding excitably before falling into Charles’ arms.
As the Jet’s engine continues to deafeningly roar over the couple’s unbridled glee, Amber’s parents were also on hand to play their part in the surprise, holding up a sign saying, ‘Will you marry me, Amber?’, just in case she couldn’t hear Charles’ burning question.
Charles, who got together with Amber after meeting online, said: “I really wanted to pull out all of the stops for Amber and do something that no-one has ever done before.
“We got together a year and nine-months ago, and I’ve known since that moment that she was the one for me.
“I came up with the idea after my leadership asked if anyone had a spouse who would want to ride in the F-15, and though Amber wasn’t yet my spouse, I thought it would be a great opportunity to make her so.
“Both of our families are full of Air Force and Military veterans, so to propose in that manner brought about a great deal of pride for us all.
“Everything went better than I ever could’ve hoped, all I’ve ever wanted was to make Amber and give her my best.
“So to see her so happy and emotional along with her family, really was an incredible feeling.
“The U.S Air Force has given me so much, and to be able to share this with my friends and family was very important.”
Amber added: “I was so nervous about going in the F-15, I never even had time to think that something else might be going on.
“He is the genuine and true southern gentleman that I’ve always wanted in my life.
“He always makes me feel like I’m the most important person in the world and the day he proposed was no exception.
“I couldn’t even speak, all I could do was cry and nod my head, I couldn’t believe it was happening.
“I’ve been dreaming of this moment ever since we told each other ‘I love you’.
“I’m so excited for our future together.
“We’re planning on opening a working horse farm and staring a therapeutic riding program for veterans, to give back to the armed forces that have given us so much.”
