This is the extraordinary Japanese restaurant where monkeys serve drinks and wait tables.
The Kayabukiya Tavern, in Utsunomiya, Tochigi prefecture, has been employing macaques for 29 years – after a monkey called Yat-chan, belonging to restaurant owner, Kaoru Otsuka, started copying human staff voluntarily.
At three-years-old another monkey, called Fuku-chan, started copying Yat-chan and now 14 years later he has become the star attraction at the establishment.
As this bizarre footage shows Fuku-chan now dons a black and white uniform each day and delivers drinks and napkins to bemused customers.
Some people have deemed the idea cruel but the owner insists his furry friends are very happy and when their working day is done they are paid in bananas.
Kaoru Otsuka said: “They are closer than my family. I hold them all day and sleep with them.
“Once I started taking care of them I couldn’t let go. They are just way way too cute.”
