It’s BEAR-watch! This polar bear clearly thinks she’s Pamela Anderson – as she dives into water with a life ring in an apparent attempt to rescue her mate.
Photographed in Perm Zoo in Russia, female polar bear Milka apparently saves her boyfriend, Seriku, from drowning.
Running into her pen to grab a lifebuoy, Milka comes bombarding out gripping it in her teeth.
She then stands at the edge of their pool and throws it in at him, before diving in to secure him in it herself.
Heroically, she drags him back to the shore.
But keepers say the bizarre sequence of events is a game that the bears have learned to play – to the bemusement of their carers.
Ekaterina Melnikova, who is a zoologist, said: “Both of the polar bears are very playful.
“The lifebuoy is Milka’s favourite toy, she loves to run with it and throw it.
“Sometimes she throws it to Seriku, or sometimes she throws it even higher to the visitors.
“Both of them love to swim with the lifebuoy too – sometimes they swim through it, showing how graceful these enormous predators can be.
“When they both play with the lifebuoy it really seems like an operation.
“Milka is always the rescuer, and Seriku is always ‘drowning’.
“But everybody knows that polar bears are actually perfect swimmers, and they don’t need any lifebuoy.”
