A pub goer had a lucky escape after running back into her local just seconds before a car ploughed into the bus stop outside – missing her by inches.
Lorraine Alberts had just got up from the bus shelter to head back into The Starving Rascal pub, in Stourbridge, West Midlands, when a Volkswagon Golf careered into the popular bus stop virtually destroying it.
On dramatic CCTV footage recorded at the pub, the 64-year-old, from Amblecote, can be seen casually strolling towards the door before spotting the car and dashing to safety with just a second to spare.
The dark-coloured car then slams into the bus stop stop smashing the glass and almost completely obliterating it.
Police and paramedics were called to the incident, which happened just after 4:15pm on Sunday (July 9), but other than a man sat at the stop who was left bruised and in shock, remarkably no one was injured.
Pub landlady, Charlotte Cooper, said: “We were upstairs but the pub was packed downstairs.
“We heard a crash and ran down straight away. It sounded like the front of the pub had gone.
“It’s a miracle no one was badly injured and there were no children there.
“It’s a really popular bus stop and lots of our customers stand out the front in that exact spot enjoying a drink so it was really lucky.”
