This underwater light beam makes it clear that you know where you’re going.
The sun’s appearance in the underwater cove creates an almost light tunnel, giving daring divers more clarity of where they’re going.
And the deeper down you go the more magical it gets…
The beam can be seen looking a poignant shade of blue, as opposed to the dazzling white it is at the top.
Paul ‘Duxy’ Duxfield caught these shots when he was diving in Isla Mujeres in Mexico.
‘Duxy’ said: “These were my favourite shots from my trip to Mexico – the pillar of light is within the Pit Cenote.
“I saw the light and guessed it would reflect well from someone’s mask.
“I had always desired to take my guests away on a trip that delivered something a bit different from the usual wrecks and reefs we were all used to.
“And this definitely didn’t fail to deliver.
“It’s very pretty and much less developed than Cozumel and Cancun and also happens to be one of the best places in the world to see whale sharks!”
