Dramatic visuals show villagers in India prodding a 15-foot-long python and tying its head with a rope after they found it had swallowed a goat.
Scores of villagers gathered in Baihata Chariali village in the northeastern state of Assam after they spotted a python struggling with a bloated belly.
The snake had ventured into the village from the nearby forest and devoured a goat triggering anger among the villagers.
Some men then dared and captured the wriggling creature and tied its head with a rope so they can hand it over to the forest officials.
Visuals taken by an onlooker shows the head of the python tied with a rope and some people prodding its tail.
While the village elders were worried that the python might harm people if not released back in the forest, some young men were excited to pose for the pictures holding the snake’s tail.
In the video, a young man with the help from others can be seen putting the snake’s tail around the neck and posing in style.
“The python was seen relatively slow in its movement as it had swallowed an entire goat. Some villagers showed courage and tied the snake’s head with a rope so that it can be handed over to forest officials.
“Young people were very excited and posed for pictures holding the python’s tail but the snake was not harmed at all,” said said Manoj Kumar, an onlooker.
The forest officials, who were already informed by the villagers, reached the spot and rescued the snake and released it back into the forest.
