The parents of a seven-year-old Pakistani boy are hopeful that their son, battling with enormous tumour that has engulfed his right face, can live a normal life after boxing superstar Amir Khan has offered to pay for his life-saving treatment.

Ali Hassan from Pakpattan in Pakistan’s Punjab province has a huge tumour on his face that is spreading at a quick rate, affecting his eye, nose and mouth.

But now the parents are hopeful that the boy can be given a treatment.

“Amir Khan assured us of all sort of financial help. He told me that he will also visit us.

“We are hopeful that our son can have a normal life now,” said Ali’s father, Muhammad Mansha.

Born as the fourth child to parents Muhammad Mansha, 38, and Fauzia Mansha, 35, Ali’s right eye started swelling  at the age of four months.

“We took him to several doctors in the nearby hospitals but there was no sign of improvement,” said Fauzia Mansha.

Earlier this year, Ali was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma cancer.

“Doctors advised that in order to save his life, Ali’s right eye needs to be removed.

” In January this year, a surgery was performed by doctors, removing Ali’s right eye. But only weeks after the surgery, his face started swelling and resulted into a huge tumour.”

Neuroblastoma is a type of cancer that starts in certain very early forms of nerve cells found in an embryo or fetus. The term neuro refers to nerves, while blastoma refers to a cancer that affects immature or developing cells. This type of cancer occurs most often in infants and young children.

Muhammad Mansha, who works as a daily wager and earns a mere £3 a day, lacked crucial funds for the advanced treatment of his son.

However, boxing superstar Amir Khan last week came to his son’s rescue and offered to pay for Ali’s surgery to remove the gruesome lump through his charitable foundation.

“I am regularly visiting the boy in the hospital on direction of Amir Khan.

“We are waiting for medical reports. If his treatment is not possible here or in any other hospital in Pakistan, we will take him to any foreign country where medical facilities are much better and advance.

“Amir khan has told me to be with the family and keep him updated,” said Aamir Khan’s Manager, Anwer Ahmed.
