Staying at home brought this drone controller the rare gift of spotting multiple orca whales swimming nearby

Software salesman Scott Griffin, 49, from Allyn, Washington, was flying his DJI Mavic Platinum Pro drone on April 13, 2020.

Flying the drone was an idea to break the boredom of isolation, but Scott wasn’t expecting to see a group of orca whales making their way through the water.

The whales were swimming through the waters of Case Inlet, but Scott admits he’d never seen anything like it before.

Scott said: “We were at home during the Covid 19 quarantine and the whales came past our house.

“The white whale is a juvenile whale born in 2018.”
