A birthday in lockdown can still be a celebration as this man FaceTimed his friends and found a convenient way to blow out his candles.
Student Ali Mahklouf shared the reality of his twenty-first birthday celebrations on April 3, during lockdown in Dubai.
In the video, Ali wears a surgical face mask so he can’t blow out the candles on his cake, but he jokingly manages to solve the problem with a hairdryer instead.
Ali also had friends on numerous video calls so they could all sing him happy birthday in unison.
During this difficult time, Ali was pleased to create something fun that gave people something to laugh about.
Ali said: “I wanted to do something special for my birthday.
“I was blowing out my candles while wearing a mask and blew them out with a hairdryer, which people assumed was the funny part.
“The element of surprise was that the sound of happy birthday actually came from the video calls with my friends.
“The video was getting a lot of love from everyone around the world which made me happy because, during this difficult time, I gave people a good laugh.”
