A mountaineering enthusiast used a ladder, boots and an ice axe to reach some shelves that needed cleaning during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Store manager Dario Andolfi, 36, from Rome, Italy, has been forced to stay at home because of the coronavirus quarantine, but could not bear giving up on his passion, which is climbing mountains.

When he needed to clean some of his book shelves, Dario decided to recreate an indoor climbing session by wearing boots, helmet, ice axes and a backpack and reaching the dirty spots with the help of a ladder.

The video of the home-made ascent was then uploaded on social media, where it quickly went viral with over 600,000 views.

Dario said: “Mountaineering is my passion and I missed it so much.

“I thought of an indoor climb to have fun and make people smile.”
