A pharmacist from Dubai filmed the city on day one of its government-imposed curfew to curb the spread of Covid-19
The footage, captured by Yousef Elaskary, 28, on March 27, shows the what would usually be one of the busiest roads in Dubai completely empty and looking like a ghost town.
“This is one of the busiest boulevards in Dubai’s downtown as it connects the city’s landmark, Burj Khalifa, with the world’s largest mall, The Dubai Mall,” explained Yousef.
“It gave me goosebumps to see it ghosted like that.”
This isn’t the first time Yousef has been ‘locked down’, and he compares elements of the Egyptian Revolution with the current coronavirus situation.
“My first ever curfew experience was during the Egyptian revolution in 2011, it was pretty similar to the current situation here in Dubai”.
