This heartwarming video shows the moment a mummy orangutan was reunited with her baby.
Taken at the BOS Foundation’s Nyaru Menteng Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre in Borneo, the footage shows 11-year-old Dilla meeting her baby Delilah after the pair were separated following a traumatic birth.
The stunning video shows mother and baby sharing a warm and loving embrace and cuddle.
Nicola Walpen said: “The weeks leading up to this moment had been a roller-coaster of emotions for the vet team.
“As mother Dilla had already rejected her baby several times, the vet team feared for the worst, that they would have to hand baby Delilah over to the surrogate mothers for her to be raised in forest school.
“In the moment of this reunion, the team was overjoyed, but the worry that Dilla could still reject her baby lingered in their minds.
“Now almost a year on, Dilla and Delilah are both healthy and progressing well through their rehabilitation.”
