A rare white African giraffe has reportedly been killed by poachers.
The female giraffe and her calf who went viral in 2017 had not been seen in Garissa country, northeast Kenya, for several months.
It is understood that the remains of the giraffe and her calf were found after being killed by poachers.
The deaths are currently being investigated.
The giraffe’s white colour is caused by a condition called leucism which makes skin cells lose their pigmentation.
With the death of the mum and her cub, it is believed that there is one remaining white giraffe left in existence.
The giraffe and her calf shot to global notoriety when they were spotted by rangers at the Ishaqbini Hirola conservation back in 2017.
