Dramatic footage has emerged capturing the moment a motorist found a bus stationary on the wrong side of the road – narrowly avoiding a head on collision.
Laura Taylor, 33, was on the way to pick her daughter up from school when she turned off the high street in Burntwood, Staffs, at TIME and was stunned to see the Arriva vehicle blocking her path.
The cake maker, from Walsall, West Mids, was forced to brake suddenly and said she was grateful there was nothing behind her as this could have led to a collision.
Laura said: “There could have been a collision with the bus, or I could have been rear ended if there had been a car behind me.
“On the dash cam it looks further away than it was, but luckily there was nothing behind me.
“There was a parked car a bit further back a bit down the road, that could be the reason it was on the wrong side, but it had time to get back in the right lane.
“I was a bit shaken up as I drove off.”
Arriva confirmed they were investigating the incident.
A spokeswoman said: “Arriva is aware of an incident that occurred on November 22nd, in Burntwood.
“Dashcam footage shows the Arriva driver proceeding around parked cars and nearside speed cushions and as the bus turns, some swing-out is required.
“Arriva will refer the matter for investigation in line with our own policies and procedures.”
