These baby panda twins can sleep soundly thanks to a giant cosy crib built especially for them.

The cubs were born on August 31 to mum Meng Meng and father Jiao Qing.

The bed has been lovingly handmade by zoo craftsmen using wood and Plexiglas after the twins quickly outgrew the incubators they were originally in.

Andreas Knieriem, zoo director, said: “To date, the pandas have increased their birth weight fifteenfold.

“Of course we keep our fingers crossed that they continue to develop so splendidly and they soon outgrow their new accommodation too.”

The bespoke panda bed is 2.5 metres long and is padded out with cuddly blankets for extra comfort.

Pandas are notouriously difficult to breed making such births rare
