A bride was left gobsmacked after receiving a surprise puppy as her wedding gift from her bridesmaids.
Kaci Shepard Myers, 33, was left heartbroken when her childhood canine Cloe passed away in 2017 and when her partner, Adam, 35, proposed one year later, was stuck for ideas of how to incorporate the Maltese into her special day.
Having initially wanted her four-legged friend to be involved in her wedding party, Kaci searched through family and friends to find someone to fill in, but nothing quite fit the bill.
Knowing that her big day wouldn’t feel right without a puppy appearance, Kaci’s three bridesmaids, Megan Flatt, 30, Jessica Holt, 36, and Sarah Inge, 33, decided to all club together and get her the perfect wedding gift to fill in for Cloe at the wedding.
With help from her husband, the bridal party then found Brody, a ten-week-old Corgi, who Kaci had been lusting over online and bought the dog for her ahead of the big day so he could walk down the aisle as her ring bearer.
The friends then captured Kaci’s reaction on camera in her home in Waldport, Oregon – where she can be seen left gobsmacked and shrieking her way over to the little puppy.
Kaci, a salon owner, said: “When I was 12-years-old my mother passed away so when I was 15 my dad surprised me with a Maltese puppy called Cloe.
“She really got our whole family through the loss of my mother – she was our everything, our rock and my very best friend.
“We had her for 16 years, until she passed away two-years-ago and I can absolutely heartbroken, I felt completely lost.
“I had always dreamed of having Cloe at my big day and walking down the aisle, so when Adam popped the question I couldn’t help but think that she wouldn’t be there.
“I discussed getting another dog several times, and knew that I wanted a Corgi, so started looking on some pages online and sending all of the links to Adam and my friends – but as a breed Corgi’s are very expensive, and we couldn’t afford one with the wedding too.
“Just weeks after falling in love with Brody on Facebook, I walked into my house and there he was sat on my best friends lap.
“I couldn’t believe what was going on – I was so excited to see my best friends who live far away that I didn’t even notice him at first.
“My first thought was that they were there to tell me they were bailing out of the wedding or something, not that they’d got me a puppy!
“The girls then explained to me that they had got me a puppy to help me deal with the loss of Cloe and hopefully fill the four-legged role on my big day, I couldn’t believe they had done something like this as a wedding gift.”
After the news that she had been gifted her dream puppy had finally sunk in, Kaci admits that she couldn’t hold in her emotions.
She said: “I was in so much shock, but then when it sunk in I instantly fell in love and fell to the floor with him, balling my eyes out.
“I couldn’t believe that he was the same puppy that I had found on Facebook a few weeks before, it was so meant to be.
“Since he’s been in my life he has put a massive smile on my face and has helped me come to terms with the loss of Cloe.
“Everyone that meets him falls in love with him straight away – he’s just so cute and happy.
“He definitely stole my thunder when he was our ring bearer at our wedding on August 31.”
