Amazing

These jaw-dropping photographs will need a double take before spectators are able to see what they show.

Snapped by professional Photographer, Em Gatland, 37, from Greater Kruger, South Africa, the unique shots could easily be mistaken for a dangerous wave rather than clouds passing through a sunset.

Each image offers more intrigue with the collection getting more dramatic the closer you look, and in some cases even has subjects standing on the edge of cliff to give anyone viewing an incredible perspective of just how enormous the clouds are.

The mesmerising collection was snapped last month at sunrise on the Drakensberg Escarpment in the lowveld, also known as Mariepskop, South Africa.

Em said: “We were watching the start of Monday down below, the traffic, and the busy people commuting to and from work.

“We headed up early to the top of the escapement to watch the sunrise, as the clouds were passing through, we found a perfect look-rock to sit on and absorb the early morning skies.

“Where we were situated made us feel like our thoughts were nestled, absorbing the higher views and breaking away from the daily routine of life below.

Em argues that one thing he has learnt during his experience as a wildlife and travel photographer is that sometimes your best photographs will come when you least expect them.

Em said: “The best exploring can happen on your doorstep; you don’t need to travel far to find your secret escape.”
