A group of guys rushed to save manatees they thought had beached only to realise they were actually mating.
Jeffrey Lange and a few of his friends were walking through South Lido Park in Sarasota, Florida, on June 14, when they noticed what looked like eight or nine seacows struggling in shallow waters.
Rushing down to the beach they quickly realised they were incorrect, as there were one or two females surrounded by male manatees.
Jeffrey, 23, said: “I’ve lived in Florida my whole life and never seen anything like this before.
“We saw a crowd of people standing there taking pictures and became infuriated that they weren’t doing anything to help.
“So, we ran down to try and get them to deeper water, only to realize that the struggle we saw was actually a group of males and one or two females mating.
“It went on for about 30-45 minutes and they continued to swim up and down the beach for another hour afterwards.”
