A dog and baby emu have formed an extremely unlikely – but adorable – friendship and now do absolutely everything together.
Pooch Max, a cattle dog and retriever mix and Frankee, the baby emu, are the best of friends and even take naps together after first meeting on January 6.
Videos captured by their owner, Shannon Ferrin, 26, from Perth, Australia, showcase their inseparable bond.
Shannon, a a wildlife carer and brought Frankee home from work to give him around the clock care but after introducing him to Max, he now gets the constant care and love he needs.
Shannon said: “I brought Frankee home for a short stay while he was healing and so I could take 24/7 care of his head injury.
“We believe Frankee was hurt by a group of wild crows who often try steal baby animals like him.
“I wasn’t too sure how my dogs, including Max, would react when I brought him home because Max was only six months old at the time.
“I kept Frankee in a pet box and away from the dogs but they really wanted to have a look and watch him.
“I trusted my dogs and decided to let Frankee have a run around inside the house, Max was a little scared at first but quickly adjusted and loved watching him run around.
“Frankee instantly felt his warmth and cuddled up to his chest – It was truly the cutest thing I’ve ever seen in my life!”
Since seeing Max and Frankee’s friendship blossom, Shannon has now permanently adopted Frankee and says the whole family has welcomed the baby bird in with open arms.
She added: “I now let Frankee out every morning to play with the other dogs and then he and Max will eventually come in for a nap.
“My whole family has taken Frankee in as our own and looks like he will be staying with us on our property meaning= Frankee and Max will be best friends for life!”
