Incredible time-lapse footage has emerged of a man 3D-printing a ‘Dark Phoenix’ statue using bizarre heat changing material.

The video, filmed in Äänekoski, Finland in May 2019, shows 13 hours of printing compressed into just 30 seconds.

Jukka Seppänen, 34, used thermochomic “tri-colour lava” to print the X-Men character, which gives the model its multi-coloured appearance.

“It is dark under 30C and goes through orange to yellow up to 50c,” Jukka explained.

It took him a “couple of days” to design the model, followed by a “couple more days for test printing and fine-tuning.”

He was inspired by the trailer for new Marvel movie The X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

The titular character, who Jukka’s statue is based on, is played by Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner.

According to Jukka, people have reacted “mostly in awe” to his video.

“People within the 3D printing community also appreciate how the model prints well without any extra support material,” he added.
