Underwater photographers from across the globe have submitted their amazing images of Indonesia for a prestigious contest.
Organised by leading underwater imagery sites DivePhotoGuide and Wetpixel, the competition features some of the most compelling and innovative underwater imagery ever captured in the Southeast Asian nation’s seas and oceans.
DEEP Indonesia, along with its sister contest Our World Underwater, is considered to be the most prestigious annual underwater photography contests.
The images produced by these competitions represent a stunning visual feast that celebrates the oceans and their vibrant diversity – with 15 per cent of the entry proceeds donated to marine conservation efforts.
Judges Aaron Wong, Adam Hanlon, Andrew Marriot Christian Vizl, Burt Jones and Maurine Shimlock had a tough time selecting their shortlists and ultimately, the winners.
The contestants were competing for over £38k worth of prizes, generously supplied by a wide variety of businesses, and the chance for their work to be displayed at the DEEP Indonesia Exhibition in Jakarta.
Speaking about winner Grant Thomas’ photography, organiser Adam Hanlon said: “Beautifully composed elements that combine to emphasise the beauty of the scene, both above and under the water. A shining example of how an over and under should be done.”
