These jaw-dropping crystal clear shots show an osprey catching his dinner with split-second precision.

Professional wildlife photographer Gary Jones, 52, tackled the extreme challenge of capturing the birds mid-dive at a trout farm in Rutland, Leics.

Gary, from Buckley, North Wales, said: “Osprey were re-introduced to Rutland in the early 2000s and the fish available at the farm has undoubtedly assisted in their successful reintroduction.

“They are without out a doubt my favourite bird, and I just love the extreme challenge of photographing the birds diving to catch fish.

“The really special photos are the ones where the bird is just touching the water with its talons, or bursting from the water with a fish and lots of water spray.”
