You won’t believe your eyes when you see this amazing footage showing thousands of dolphins leaping through the water.
The incredible scene was caught on a drone by Laura and Henry Whittaker, from Corsham, Wilts, during a trip to South Africa’s Western Cape.
The couple were left flabbergasted by the massive pod of dolphins, as they playfully jumped and dived behind the breaking waves at a view point in Wilderness, on the Garden Route.
Laura said: “Henry was setting up the drone and I went to take in the view – and the ocean looked like popcorn!
“All these dolphins were just popping out of the water – I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
“It was by far the largest pod I’ve ever seen – you couldn’t miss them.
“It looked like there were thousands of them, but it was impossible to tell.
“There was a huge school of fish running along the coast – you could see the ripples on the water from where they were and birds were diving in and fishing.
“We initially thought the dolphins were there because of that, but they were playing and not really interested in where the fish were.
“They swam along to right in front of the view point and then turned around and swam back – they were just swimming back and forth.
“When we stopped at the view point, we were the only car there – within 10 minutes there were more cars, and people in the small town of Wilderness were stopping and saying they had heard about the dolphins.
“Everyone was amazed at how many there were.
“I honestly couldn’t believe our luck that we had our drone there and ready for this once in a lifetime experience.”
