This footage shows a scary shelf cloud inching over the Italian coastline as a series of storms approached the shore.
Giuseppe Marcello captured stunning images of the menacing cloud as it increased in size and got closer to the houses in Pescara, Italy yesterday [March 11].
Shelf clouds are frightening but mostly harmless natural phenomena which often announce the arrival of spring and summertime storms.
Giuseppe said: “This shelf cloud preceded a cold front and a series storms which then hit the whole region.
“I am passionate about meteorological phenomena, I had taken pictures of shelf clouds before and I did not hesitate to get out the house as soon as I saw that the conditions were favourable.
“The scenery felt surreal, and I was very excited.”
