This pilot could not hide his delight as he took the skies in the first manned flight in a FLYING GO KART.
With the long-term goal of personal flight for all, Tomasz Patan took off in the Jetson Speeder flying craft over the skies above Toscana, Italy.
Beneath, green fields sped past as Tomasz, of Revoflite, tested his personal air vehicle – known as a PAV.
The Jetson Speeder can carry a person who weighs up to 100kg [15st 7lbs], has a flight time of 15 minutes – and can even reach speeds of 60 miles per hour.
Tomasz, a native of Poland, said: “It turned out to be a fantastic experience that everyone should be able to try.
“Being able to move through the air so effortlessly without vibrations or noise – it just felt so great.
“After months of careful planning, designing, programming and building, we had this beautifully flying electric machine which was the first step in leading to something even greater: Bringing the personal electric flight to everyone.”
Reaching this point, Tomasz said, required hundreds of adjustments, changes, and test flights.
Going forward, a pre-production prototype is planned for the second quarter of 2019, with commercial production hopefully starting at the end of 2019.
Tomasz added: “We have successfully built our flying proof of concept!
“Since then we have learned a lot, made hundreds of adjustments and changes, conducted many flight tests, proved its airworthiness and safety features.
“We have achieved our set parameters and collected all necessary data.
“These steps were essential to start a development of a pre-production prototype.”
