A romantic woman has defied convention by planning a dreamy Valentine’s date with her pet PUG – complete with dog-safe wine, chocolates and cheese.

Stay-at-home ‘pug mum’ Zara Teare said she always knew her true Valentine was her pampered pug Dave – so she decided this year she would celebrate the special holiday with her pooch.

In the lead up to Valentine’s Day, the 31-year-old, from Eggbuckland, Plymouth, organised an romantic date to enjoy with the three-year-old pup – which included special chicken chocolates, ‘Pawsecco’ wine, doggy cheese and even a passionate V-Day card.

Starry-eyed Zara pulled out the stops to impress her sweetheart Dave and get him into the Valentine’s Day spirit – with her loving efforts even being applauded by thousands of hopeless romantics online.

And despite being married to military husband Wayne, 33, Zara said he had no qualms about letting Dave steal the limelight this Valentine’s Day.

Zara said: “Dave does everything with me, it only made sense to celebrate Valentine’s Day with him.

“My husband got me a box of Milk Tray chocolates for Valentine’s Day which I opened early. As Dave always does, he was asking for some too.

“That’s when I got the idea to have a special Valentine’s Day celebration with Dave.

“I cut up his chicken treats to different shapes matching the chocolate box. Obviously all his favourite flavor which is chicken.

“Then I got some special they sell cheese for dogs, and some dog-wine called ‘Pawsecco’. It was absolutely perfect.

“Dave had all my attention for our date night as we shared a few ‘chocolates’ and ‘wine’.

“Then his bow tie came off and we did our usual snuggle on the sofa and watched a film. He definitely loves a cuddle.

“It was a perfect date night.”

The adorable photos of Zara and Dave’s date have warmed hearts online, racking up thousands of shares and hundreds of likes on Facebook.

Zara said Dave is her ‘true Valentine’ and that she would not hesitate to enjoy another romantic date with him in the future.

She added: “Dave is an absolute joy to be around and makes everyone smile.

“We have a strong bond as I’m home with him 24/7. We do everything together.

“The great thing about dogs is they love you unconditionally.

“The look in his eyes tells me how much he loves me, and in his quirky strange pug ways, he tells me every day.”
