A curious octopus slowly engulfed a camera when a diver gets up close and personal.
Self-employed Eric Desmet captured the moment whilst diving in the French Riviera.
After spotting the big cephalopod, the 55-year-old wanted to get a closer look and placed the camera in front of it.
The curious creature slowly approached the camera, started engulfing it and managed to get the filter off his camera during the encounter.
Eric said: “It was really funny when he managed to get the filter open by himself, you can even hear the sound of it opening.
“I know they are curious animals so I know to be prepared to lose my camera if I don’t look after it.”
