These delighted individuals could not believe their luck as they were joined by a happy DOLPHIN while being pulled along by a boat.
Jojo The Dolphin is a national treasure on the islands of Turks and Caicos, and ever since charter company Wake to Wake began using Subwings – a board that provides “underwater flight” – the mammal has been more than happy to swim alongside riders.
In the footage released by the company, riders can be seen turning to discover Jojo hot on their tail, looking extremely happy as he glides next to them.
Jojo, a male dolphin weighing 880 pounds, is so popular on the island that he has his own Instagram account and, in back in 1989, was officially declared a National Treasure by the island’s government.
Mark de Fraine, of Wake to Wake Watersports, said that Jojo’s youngsters have also started to curiously join swimmers riding the Subwing, slowly becoming familiar with the team.
Speaking of people’s experiences, Mark said: “It blows everyone away.
“Ever since we started using the Subwings, Jojo has been following and interacting with us.“We started using them summer 2017 and have had countless interactions with them.
“It’s honestly the most incredible experience.
“Jojo cruises next to you, follows behind, and sometimes hovers above and he looks at you and smiles.
“He often clicks his sonar to say hi and is just super curious and playful with us.
“We are cruising at about 3mph, which is his perfect slow cruise speed, so he loves hanging around with us and our guests and coming along for the ride.
“He often makes eye contact with you down there and it’s amazing to see his personality through his eyes and see these are such special animals.”
