A doting man has freed a distressed deer from a fence after its antlers got stuck in the mesh wire.

Ronald Danilo Hernandez, from Long Branch, New Jersey, US, spotted the deer stranded and decided to help.

He said: “Initially I was recording the incident but I quickly handed my phone to my cousin so I could help the distressed deer.

Ronald says it was clear that the deer had attempted to jump the wooden fence not realising the mesh was in the way, which caused it to become trapped.

He added: “I went over the fence to be able to cut the wire as we were struggling to do so from the same side as the deer.

“Luckily I was able to cut around its antlers so it could be freed – safe it say it was was in a hurry to get back to the fields.”
