This extraordinary ship sank TWICE and was used by the Yugoslavs President as his private yacht. The Galeb was built in 1938 as a banana freighter, but was later adopted as a light cruiser in World War II by Italy before being used by the Germans as a mine ship.

The boat, also know as The Peace Ship, is 117 metres long and also spent its days as the personal yacht of Josip Broz Tito, the first President of Yugoslavia. The magnificent boat was sunk twice - the first time in 1944 by allied aircraft, the second in 2008 after developing a leak.

Thomas Windisch, from Vienna, Austria, has now photographed the ship which still has tables ready to be eaten at and beds ready to sleep in. This is the main hall for state visits.

Crew mess still has tables ready to be eaten at. The student and photographer, who's 34, said: "It was really hard to get permission to go inside and photograph the ship.

He also said, "Josip Tito spent so much time on that ship, so to be honest I thought he'd have invested more money into it and made it more comfortable.

"Interestingly, his wife's cabin was a lot bigger and more comfortable than the President's private cabin."
