Stopping for a refreshing drink on a summer’s afternoon, these magnificent elephants have a friendly tussle and end up with their trunks intertwined.
Taken at a watering hole in Addo Elephant National Park in South Africa, the elephants became quite playful and in one image they look like they could actually be kissing.
Heather Nel, the photographer responsible for the images, said: “A herd of elephants were at the watering hole for a much needed drink on a hot summer afternoon.
“It was wonderful to sit quietly in my vehicle and watch them interact.”
Heather, who is a Senior Director of Planning at Nelson Mandela University has been an avid amateur photographer for about seven years and loves to capture beautiful landscapes and wildlife.
She said: “I enjoy immersing myself in the tranquillity of the outdoors and photography is an outlet for me to unwind.
“Addo Elephant Park is located about 45 minutes from where I live in Port Elizabeth and I managed to capture this image just as their trunks intertwined.”
