Visuals show the terrifying moment volunteers in India rescue a cobra from a soundbox.
The 2.5 feet long venomous snake had entered the house of Biswajit Bisoi, 36, in Pokhariput, Bhubaneswar in the eastern Indian state of Odisha on Wednesday morning.
He was listening to music when he suddenly spotted the cobra under the table.
Biswajit said: “At around 9 am, I was listening to some music in my room when I saw the cobra under the table. I was shocked and immediately rushed out of the room.”
The panic-stricken Biswajit immediately called Snake Helpline, an organisation that assists in snake rescues in the state, for help.
Volunteer Subhendu Mallik rushed to the spot to rescue the reptile.
However, when Biswajit took him to the room and showed the table, the snake was no where to be found.
Subhendu said: “I told Biswajit that the snake might have left but he was sure the snake was hiding somewhere in the room and then he pointed towards the soundbox which had a hole for bass effect.
“I sprayed mosquito repellent aerosol into the speaker which yielded no result.
“Then we decided to open the sound box.”
Visuals show Subhendu opening the soundbox with a screwdriver and to his utter surprise the cobra was inside it.
He then uses a hook and takes the snake out from the soundbox.
Subhendu added: “This is for the first time that I have seen a cobra taking shelter inside a sound box.”
The reptile was removed from the soundbox within half-an-hour and later released in its natural habitat.
